While Komodo is known for strong currents and advanced dives, it also has plenty of sites that offer beautiful, relaxing, and easy dives for beginners. Whether you are looking for just a single day experience or are ready to ‘dive in’ to a full open water certification, Blue Marlin is the place. We offer the only training pool in town, allowing our students to get comfortable with basic skills before they ever get on a boat. We never exceed the ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor to ensure a personalised experience that will start your adventure off right and keep you diving in the future!
Never dived before? Only have 1 day? Maybe want to test out diving before committing to the full course? Then Discover Scuba Diving is for you! It is an exciting, relaxed and safe introduction to scuba diving, closely supervised by a PADI Instructor. We teach you a few basic skills and review the safety aspects of diving before you enjoy 2 dives to 12 meters! We specialise in small groups for your safety and enjoyment. We usually have 2 divers per instructor, but guarantee no more than 4 students per instructor. Discover Scuba Diving is an experience only program. If you really love it, you can carry on your training to become certified as a PADI Scuba Diver or as a fully certified PADI Open Water Diver. One of your Discover dives counts towards your PADI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Course!
A bit nervous? If you feel a little anxious for your Discover Scuba Diving experience, you can get a bit more comfortable by beginning your adventure in the pool. After a basic introduction to diving theory, we take you through the scuba skills required in a shallow, controlled environment the day prior to your adventure at sea. The next day, jump on the boat with a better idea of what’s in store, confident in your new skills, and ready to enjoy 2 dives without any skills to complete.
Dived before or ready to jump right in? Well you can opt to do your skills in the open ocean! After a basic introduction to diving theory, we take you through basic scuba skills just beneath the surface of the open water. After a short lesson, spend the rest of your dive exploring the reefs. Your second dive is skill free, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the national park.
The world’s most popular scuba diving course has introduced millions of people to the underwater world. The PADI Open Water Certification allows you a lifetime of scuba diving all over the world.
We specialize in flexible schedules, thorough instruction and small classes. Normally we have 2 students per instructor and guarantee no more than 4 students per class. This means you get more attention from us and we get to know you a little better!
The course begins with knowledge development through instructor led theory sessions. You can opt for self study in the comfort of your own room. If you are pushed for time on the island, we can send your E-Manual in advance with your knowledge review questions, which you can print off and make a start on at home! All you need to do upon arrival is watch the relevant DVDs, review your answers with your PADI Instructor, and complete some quizzes and final exam.
Practice 20 new scuba skills in the only training pool in Labuan Bajo. After a morning of theory; learn new snorkeling skills, skin diving and scuba skills, allowing you to practice and get comfortable with everything you have learned. A 200 meter swim and 10 minute survival float are required for certification.
The Good Stuff
Practice your new skills over 4 Open Water dives and explore our stunning reefs! Hop on our traditional Indonesian outrigger boat and head into open water to complete your training dives. You will practice buoyancy, emergency skills, dive planning, and navigation techniques. But more importantly, you get to explore! Two dives are made on the first day to a maximum depth of 12 meters and two the following day to a depth of 18 meters.
